Approved Captains

CajunOdysea Outfitters utilizes what we call "Approved Captains" to fill large parties and assist on heavily booked dates. The Captains that CajunOdysea hand selects are selected from a large pool of capable captains. Venice Louisiana has an abundance of qualified Charter Captains and CajunOdysea is proud to hand select our Approved Captains. An "Approved Captain" is a captain that has produced consistent catches and has the knowledge to make your day on the water a success. But, equally important is the personality and ability of an "Approved Captain" to make your day offshore a fun, fish catching experience. I know some of the best captains that produce catches day in and day out but their people skills and their personality is not conducive to a fun, relaxing, stress free day on the water. With the group of "Approved Captains" at CajunOdysea you will be fishing with a professional that knows his business, has your safety as his first priority and brings you into the action through involvement at whatever level you desire; some customers tell us it's like fishing with old friends, and that makes us happy !!!

Even though we own our separate business enterprises, we have reciprocal business arrangements that allow us to service multiple parties on heavily booked dates. Some of the "Approved Captains" on this site have owned their own fishing company longer than CajunOdysea has been around.

But Captain Mike, why do you use "Approved Captains"

One of my responsibilities when booking your charter trip to Venice is to pair you with the Charter Captain that best fits your group. CajunOdysea is the only company that sends out a pre-trip survey to find the true reason for your trip and what expectations you have in order to have a successful offshore charter trip. Each charter group is different, each charter group is looking for different results from their day on the water and our survey extracts that information. Once you complete the survey I use that highly sensitive and personal information to pair your group with the Charter Captain that is most likely to give you the results you are seeking.

OK, so now I understand the term "Approved Captain" but will I fish with you?

While fishing is my passion I do have a "Real" job that pays the bills. I've said it before I do this because I *Love* to, not because I have to. I try to get on the water as many days as possible but I have more people that want to fish with me than I can accommodate. I have a young family; I have a wife and all the responsibilities of a dad, father and brother. Because I'm busy taking calls, replying to e-mails, setting up trips, arranging lodging and working with inshore guides I log less days on the water, the chances of fishing with me personally become less as my responsibilities to www.CajunOdysea.com become more... CajunOdysea is more about a commitment to customer satisfaction and less about one person or one captain.

Captain Jerry Allen

Captain Jerry Allen, Jr. has been Offshore Blue Water Fishing since the 1970's. Young Jerry cut his teeth as so many of us do, working as a deckhand during breaks from high school and later continued to earn knowledge and extra cash every opportunity he had during college.

Working as a deck hand on charter boats during high school lit the fire that would grow into a full blown passion for life!! As he increased his water time he continued to grow his knowledge eventually being promoted to a first mate on large sport fishing charter boats during his college days. Charter fishing was in Jerry's blood and the fire was burning, Jerry was past the point of no return and thus, a true passion for Offshore Big Game Sport Fishing was burning out of control.

Jerry has fished all around the world to include the United States Gulf Coast, several ports in Mexico, the Bahamas, Florida Keys and yes, of course, Hawaii….. Jerry was moving a boat from the Florida Keys to the Texas Coast during the late 1970's when he first encountered the Pelagic rich waters know as Venice Louisiana. Jerry recalls making a promise to him self that if he ever had the ability to own his own boat and charter business he would call Venice Louisiana HOME.

Jerry's passion for Offshore Blue Water Fishing spills into each day he is on the water. Jerry is a teacher at heart but a true fish killer! Jerry's passion, zest and knowledge for Offshore Blue Water fishing makes the perfect recipe for a fantastic fun day on the water.
